Théodora is a Franco-English ensemble focusing on the performance of French and English baroque repertoire. Formed in October 2017, the ensemble is comprised of graduates from the Royal Academy of Music and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. They were very highly commended in the Nancy Nuttall Early Music Prize (London, 2018) and were chosen as finalists of the Early Music Young Ensemble Competition (London, 2018). Théodora was selected as one of the ten young ensembles to perform at the Fringe of Musica Antiqua Brugge Festival in August 2018 and played the same summer at the Utrecht Early Music Festival, as part of the festival’s “Fabulous Fringe”. In 2019 they performed an evening recital as part of the Barnes Music Festival and were ensemble in residence in Brittany for the 2ème rencontres de Musique Ancienne à L’Abbaye de Léhon. Next January, Théodora will be performing at the Chapelle Royale in Versailles, as part of the Jeudis Musicaux series. They are also looking forward to their participation on the Jeunes Talents 2019-20 scheme for young promising artists, for which they will perform a recital in Paris.
A truly European ensemble in their lifestyle and ethos, Théodora is still waiting to hear back on their Eurostar ambassadorship application.
